Some shoots just hit different—and this one had everything: a bold concept, killer styling, iconic talent, and a pink coffin that somehow tied it all together perfectly.
We recently had the chance to shoot with the incredible Arson Leigh—also known as @SaintArson—at Billy Studios in downtown Los Angeles. Arson’s been a dream to work with over the years. She always brings fire to the set, helps us grow our reach thanks to her massive following, and never shows up without a vision.
Billy Studios is one of those spaces that photographers obsess over—and for good reason. With multiple set options, unique textures, vivid lighting setups, and themes that range from surreal to seductive, it’s the kind of place where your creativity can actually run wild.
One of the sets Arson was most excited about? The pink coffin. Yes, really—and she absolutely slayed in it. We cycled through a ton of different looks and moods throughout the shoot, using both digital and film formats to capture every layer of her energy.
Midway through the session, Arson invited her longtime friend Mickey Mod to join in. Mickey’s a veteran performer and model with over 22 years of experience, and watching him work the set was nothing short of inspiring.
We got creative. We got weird. We got sweaty. (Billy Studios has a lot of sets, but not a lot of A/C.) And we rolled nonstop footage and BTS content the whole time.
Then the moment that made my whole week: Mickey messaged me personally after the shoot and told me these were the best photos he’s ever had in his entire career. That hit different. That compliment is going in my creative hall of fame.
We brought both digital cameras, Polaroids, and medium format film to this shoot because when you're working with legends like Arson and Mickey, you need to capture everything. The texture, the tone, the heat of the moment—film just hits where digital can’t, and having both gave us so much range to play with.
